l10n with QT: Use English if untranslated?

Is it possible with the translation service of QT to use the
untranslated version of the string in case no translation exists or the
translation-string is empty for that language?
Background: I just tried to start qutecom with LANG=en_US and all the
texts are blank. Now imagine a language where the "you need a
wengo-account" teaser is untranslated (there are several languages where
this is the case). The user clicks, e.g., on SMS and gets an empty
message with two empty buttons...

For Gnu Gettext the default *is* to display the english string, can this
be done for QT, too? This would solve the en_US problem above (and other
en_* variants) and would give users of partly translated languages at
least a chance to figure out what is going on.
